Arunachal Governor Adopts TB Patients in Kra Daadi, Advocates for TB-Free India
Northeast Desk, 24th September: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) has personally adopted two tuberculosis (TB) patients from the remote Kra Daadi District during his historic visit to the area, marking a significant push in the fight against TB. As part of the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Governor Parnaik committed to providing monthly food baskets for the patients, one of whom he met in Tali.
The visit was a first for any state governor to the far-flung administrative circles of Pipsorang and Tali, where Parnaik assessed development programs and interacted with villagers from Vibrant Border Villages. He called on community members, especially those with resources, to adopt TB patients, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s vision to eradicate TB in India by 2025—five years ahead of the global goal.
Governor Parnaik urged health officials to conduct door-to-door awareness campaigns and suggested using drones to deliver medicines to remote areas. He also reviewed key projects, focusing on health, education, infrastructure, and tourism, advocating for specialist doctors in district hospitals and addressing school dropouts. His promotion of Bhutanese-style tourism aims to foster youth entrepreneurship and self-employment in the region.
