Swami Avimukteshwaranand Advocates for Cow Protection, Faces Roadblock in Nagaland
Northeast Desk, 25th September: During his ongoing Gaudhwaj Sthapna Bharat Yatra, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati emphasized the deep religious and cultural significance of cow protection within Sanatan Dharma. In his address, the swami called on communities across India to honor the cow as a revered symbol of life and sustenance.
However, the event took a contentious turn when Swami Avimukteshwaranand expressed disappointment over being denied entry into Nagaland by the state government. “I have not harmed anyone nor spoken ill of any individual. All I seek is the chance to convey my message to the people. Why am I being stopped?” he questioned, appealing to the Chief Ministers of Northeastern states to allow open discussions on the issues of cow slaughter and protection.
Despite this setback, Swami Avimukteshwaranand received a warm welcome in Sikkim, where local dignitaries supported his message of spiritual unity through the reverence of cows. He reiterated his determination to continue his journey, advocating cow protection as a core value of Sanatan Dharma.
In a passionate closing statement, the swami declared, “If I am not allowed to speak about the sanctity of cows, then shoot me,” underscoring his defiance of the restrictions placed on his yatra. His ongoing journey highlights the growing tension between traditional religious values and regional policies, as cow protection continues to be a focal issue in Indian spirituality.
