Northeast Desk, 27th September: In a bold statement, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, scion of the Tripura royal family and founder of Tipra Motha, declared that India has the capability to divide Bangladesh and create another country.
Speaking at a Mega Solidarity Rally in support of minority people in Bangladesh on Thursday, Debbarma expressed deep concern over the attacks on his people, who once ruled areas now part of Bangladesh.
“Temples are being vandalized, churches attacked, and our people killed. This is not the culture of Tripura or Bangladesh,” Debbarma said.
Debbarma highlighted Tripura’s rich cultural heritage, where mandirs, masjids, and churches coexisted. He emphasized India’s role in creating Bangladesh by dividing Pakistan and cautioned Bangladesh against raising slogans against India.
“Without Tripura, Bangladesh wouldn’t exist, nor would the Mukti Bahini. India will not remain silent if minority attacks continue,” Debbarma warned.
He also referenced Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, as friends of India, explaining India’s past silence.
“However, that friendship no longer exists. India has the power to create another country by dividing Bangladesh again. We will not remain silent if our minority people are harmed,” Debbarma asserted.
