Nagaland Police Seize Drugs Worth ₹30 Crore in Ongoing “War Against Drugs” Initiative

Northeast Desk, 28th September: As part of the Nagaland government’s ongoing “War Against Drugs” campaign, state police have seized narcotics and psychotropic substances valued at ₹30.05 crore in operations conducted between July and September 2024. The extensive crackdown, led by the Narcotic Police Station in coordination with various other stations, resulted in the arrest of 23 individuals, including 17 men and 6 women.

Authorities registered four cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Narcotic Police Station, while additional cases were filed at Khuzama and Medziphema Police Stations. Among the significant seizures, 2.993 kg of heroin, valued at ₹20.95 crore, and 17,179 Yaba tablets worth ₹68.71 lakh were recovered by the Narcotic Police Station. Meanwhile, Khuzama Police reported the seizure of 1.202 kg of heroin, estimated at ₹8.41 crore.

In a notable interstate operation, Nagaland Police, in collaboration with Karnataka Police, intercepted a drug consignment being trafficked via air from Manipur to Karnataka, leading to the arrest of key individuals involved in the smuggling ring. Additionally, a notorious trafficker linked to the smuggling of ‘Yaba’ and ‘World is Yours’ tablets to West Bengal was apprehended at the request of West Bengal Police.

These seizures and arrests underline Nagaland’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace, as law enforcement agencies continue to intensify their efforts to curtail narcotics trafficking across state borders.
