Assam: Dhubri Municipal Board Hosts Free Health Camp for Sanitation Workers, Commemorating PM Modi’s 74th Birthday

Guwahati, 29th September: In a bid to prioritize the health and well-being of its frontline sanitation workers, the Dhubri Municipal Board organized a free health checkup camp on Sunday, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 74th birthday and the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign.

The camp, held in collaboration with Dhubri Medical College and Hospital, the National Health Mission (NHM), Indian Red Cross Society, Indian Medical Association (IMA), Town Club, and a team of medical professionals, offered comprehensive healthcare services to safai mitras and other sanitation workers.

Dr. Debamoy Sanyal, chairman of the Dhubri Municipal Board, highlighted the importance of the initiative, saying, “Safai mitras are the backbone of public health maintenance. Their well-being should be a top priority, and this health camp ensures they receive essential medical attention.”

The camp provided an array of medical services, including general health assessments, blood tests, eye checkups, dental screenings, and mental health counseling. Medical experts diagnosed common health issues such as diabetes, hypertension, respiratory problems, and musculoskeletal disorders, emphasizing the importance of early detection for timely intervention and care.

Mental health counseling was also a focal point, recognizing the stress sanitation workers often endure in high-pressure environments. Additionally, nutritionists offered personalized dietary guidance to boost immunity and energy levels, essential for workers in physically demanding roles.

This health camp, organized as part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ initiative, reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of those who play a vital role in maintaining community hygiene. The event underscored the ongoing effort to provide better working conditions and healthcare access for sanitation workers across India.
