Arunachal Home Minister Calls for Strict Adherence to Inner Line Permit (ILP) Regulations

Northeast Desk, 29th September: Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung issued a firm call for strict enforcement of Inner Line Permit (ILP) regulations in the state, urging individuals from other regions without the necessary documentation to either comply or leave. His statement came during a walkathon and tree plantation event organized by the Arunachal Pradesh Police as part of the Clean India Mission, aimed at promoting cleanliness and environmental sustainability.

The event, flagged off at the APP General Ground in Chimpu, Itanagar, saw participation from senior officials, including Director General of Police (DGP) Anand Mohan, Itanagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Tamme Phassang, and recruits from the Police Training Centre in Banderdewa. The walkathon began at Akashdeep and concluded at Indira Gandhi Park, representing a collective effort to ensure a cleaner, greener capital.

Addressing the media, Minister Natung underscored the importance of public cooperation in the Swachh Bharat mission, stating, “Itanagar is the face of our state, and it is our responsibility to maintain its cleanliness.” He applauded the Arunachal Pradesh Police and the Municipal Corporation for their leadership in the campaign and mentioned that similar cleanliness initiatives were being conducted across police stations and check posts statewide.

Natung also highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to make Arunachal Pradesh drug-free and air gun-free, referencing the successful air gun surrender campaign, which has gained national recognition. He encouraged the public to actively participate in these initiatives to create a healthier environment.

Regarding ILP violations, Natung issued a stern warning: “Individuals from other states residing in Arunachal without an ILP are violating the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act of 1873. They must either obtain the proper permit or leave the state immediately.” He assured the public that the government would take stringent measures against those flouting the law, emphasizing the importance of following legal protocols to maintain order in the state.
