BJP Manipur Pradesh Appeals for Safe Release of Abducted Youths
Northeast Desk, 30th September: The BJP Manipur Pradesh has urgently called for the safe release of two young men, Oinam Thoithoi and Thokchom Thoithoiba, who were reportedly abducted by suspected Kuki militants after taking a wrong turn while traveling on September 27. The party is advocating for their release on humanitarian grounds amidst rising public concern over the incident.
In response to the crisis, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh convened an emergency meeting with MLAs from all parties on September 29 to discuss the abduction. The alarming situation has triggered widespread outrage throughout the state, especially following the emergence of a distressing video on social media. In the video, the captive youths appeal to Chief Minister Singh, asking the government to treat them “as sons” and to meet the kidnappers’ demands.
The abduction occurred when three youths went missing while en route to New Keithelmanbi for an SSC GD recruitment test. One of the missing individuals, Ningombam Johnson Singh, was rescued by Army personnel and has since returned to his family. The BJP Manipur Pradesh expressed gratitude to those involved in his successful rescue.
Chief Minister Singh emphasized the need for political unity in addressing the crisis, stating, “We condemn such heinous acts. Our government is working tirelessly to secure the safe release of the victims.” As the situation develops, the government is making every effort to ensure the safety of the abducted youths and resolve the matter swiftly.
