Meghalaya Government Launches Sustainable Land Management Project to Enhance Organic Farming
Northeast Desk, 1st October: The Meghalaya government launched the Sustainable Land Management Meghalaya Project, a significant initiative aimed at promoting sustainability and advancing organic farming practices within the state. This project is being implemented in collaboration with KfW Development Bank, a German financial institution that supports sustainable development.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma took to the microblogging platform X to express his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “Today we successfully launched the Sustainable Land Management Meghalaya Project, in conjunction with KfW Development Bank, representing a major stride towards sustainability and organic farming objectives in Meghalaya.”
The project seeks to leverage traditional farming techniques to create stronger market connections for farmers, thereby enhancing their livelihoods. It also addresses various productivity challenges by promoting organic farming, streamlining certification processes, and bolstering farmer capacity through training and resources. Additionally, the initiative aims to strengthen market linkages, ensuring that farmers have access to viable markets for their produce.
