Assam: Bodoland Territorial Region Hosts ‘Pledge for Nature’ Event on Gandhi Jayanti
Guwahati, 2nd October: The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government organized an event titled ‘Pledge for Nature’ at Bodofa Nagar, Kokrajhar, on October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti and the 155th International Day of Non-Violence.
During the event, approximately 2,000 youth pledged to support nature conservation, reflecting the region’s dedication to environmental stewardship. The occasion also marked the inauguration of the Dr. Bashiram Baro Doctorate Fellowship scheme.
The event saw notable attendees, including BTC Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, and Bodoland University Vice-Chancellor Dr. B.L. Ahuja, along with students, community members, and representatives from various organizations.
CEM Pramod Boro emphasized the significance of this initiative as a proactive response to the global climate crisis, highlighting the role of the Green Bodoland Mission in tackling environmental challenges. The BTR government remains committed to creating a green and plastic-free Bodoland, with various initiatives under the “Green Bodoland Mission” aimed at promoting sustainability and fostering a cleaner future for the region.
