International Desk, 2nd October: In response to rising tensions in the Middle East, the Indian government has issued a travel advisory, urging citizens to avoid travel to Iran. This advisory follows Iran’s recent missile strike on Israel, which has dramatically increased the potential for a broader regional conflict.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs announced the advisory on Wednesday, stating, “We are actively monitoring the evolving security situation in the region. Indian citizens are strongly advised against all non-essential travel to Iran. Those already in the country should remain vigilant and maintain regular communication with the Indian Embassy.”
The missile strike on Tuesday saw Iran launching over 180 missiles into Israeli territory, marking a significant escalation in the longstanding conflict between the two nations. While Israeli defense systems managed to intercept several missiles, officials in Tel Aviv and Washington have issued stern warnings to Tehran regarding severe repercussions, amplifying fears of a full-scale regional war.
In parallel, the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv has taken precautionary measures for Indian nationals residing in Israel, urging them to stay alert and follow safety guidelines from local authorities. The embassy stated, “Indian citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel within Israel and remain close to safety shelters. We are in constant touch with Israeli authorities to ensure the safety of all nationals.”
On Wednesday, Iranian officials announced that their missile operations against Israel had concluded, indicating a temporary pause in hostilities. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi asserted that while no further attacks were currently planned, Tehran would respond decisively if provoked by Israel.
Meanwhile, Israel has intensified its military response, conducting increased airstrikes and ground operations in both Gaza and Lebanon, leading to significant casualties. This escalation has raised concerns about the potential for the conflict to spread further throughout the region.
