Sikkim CM Prem Singh Tamang Pays Tribute to Victims of October 4 GLOF, Praises Relief Efforts

Northeast Desk, 4th October: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang offered heartfelt condolences to the victims of the October 4 Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF), recognizing the profound impact on the families who lost loved ones and acknowledging the long-term struggles faced by survivors. In his tribute, Tamang conveyed deep sympathy, stating, “Our thoughts remain with those who continue to bear the heavy burden of grief.”

The Chief Minister also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the central government for their unwavering support during the crisis. He lauded the efforts of the Indian Army, Border Roads Organisation (BRO), National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority (SSDMA), NGOs, and numerous volunteers who have been working tirelessly in rescue and restoration operations.

In a message of solidarity, Tamang emphasized the importance of collective resilience, encouraging the people of Sikkim to unite in the face of tragedy. “Though words may never fully express the magnitude of our collective loss, we stand together in remembrance and support,” he said, reaffirming the state’s commitment to the recovery process and the wellbeing of its people.

The Chief Minister’s message highlights both the sorrow of the moment and the strength required for the rebuilding efforts ahead, as Sikkim continues to recover from the devastating flood.
