Security Forces Conduct Search Operations in Manipur, Recover Cache of Weapons

Northeast Desk, 5th October: Security forces, including Manipur Police and Assam Rifles (AR), carried out extensive search operations and area domination exercises in the vulnerable hill and valley districts of Manipur, leading to a significant recovery of arms and ammunition. During the operations in Khengmol hill, Churachandpur District, authorities seized a tear gas gun, a country-made 9 mm pistol with a magazine, five 12-bore single barrels, eight live rounds, 13 improvised mortar shells, and five heavy mortars.

The search operations come amid ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the region, with security measures in place to ensure the safe movement of essential items across National Highways 37 and 2. A total of 172 and 169 vehicles, respectively, passed through these routes under strict security, with convoys deployed in sensitive areas for added protection.

In addition to the weapons recovery, 110 checkpoints were established across various districts, although no detentions were made for violations. The continuing security operations are part of the broader effort to curb violence and restore peace in Manipur, focusing on vulnerable areas in both the hills and valleys.
