Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal Assesses Flood Damage, Visits Relief Camps in West Garo Hills

Northeast Desk, 6th October: Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal conducted a field assessment of the flood and landslide situation in West Garo Hills on Saturday, visiting relief camps in Dalu and surrounding areas. His visit aimed to evaluate the current conditions and engage with affected families as the region faces ongoing recovery efforts following recent natural disasters.

The district administration, along with the Block Development Officer (BDO) and other staff, has been actively involved in coordinating relief and rehabilitation efforts for displaced residents. Mondal emphasized the critical importance of safety, warning that while the immediate situation has somewhat improved, weather forecasts suggest the possibility of more heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours. He urged residents to remain in secure locations and adhere to all weather advisories.

Mondal also shared that electricity has been partially restored in the Dalu area, which has improved mobile network and internet connectivity, easing communication challenges. He assured that all necessary departments have been mobilized and are working efficiently to ensure effective recovery operations.

In addition, health department teams have been dispatched to the relief camps to offer medical support to those in need. The minister also paid a visit to the Dalu Community Health Centre (CHC), where he checked on the injured victims and ensured that adequate care was being provided. He concluded his visit by holding a review meeting with the district administration and BDO to assess ongoing efforts and plan for further action to aid those impacted by the floods and landslides.
