Sikkim: Armed Men Storm Orange Village Resort, Help Guest Escape Without Paying Rs 56 Lakh Dues

Northeast Desk, 6th October: In a dramatic incident at Orange Village Resort, armed men stormed the premises on October 1st and helped a guest, identified as Gaurav Mangla, escape without paying a staggering Rs 56 lakh in dues. The incident, which occurred between 5:00 AM and 5:30 AM, has led to the registration of a case under serious criminal charges.

According to an FIR filed by the resort’s owner, Roshan Raj Shrestha, Mangla had hosted an event at the Big Bull Casino from September 16 to 19, 2024. Although Mangla had assured the resort that the outstanding payment would be settled once he reached Delhi, Shrestha insisted that the dues be cleared before Mangla’s departure.

The situation escalated when a group of armed men, identified as Manohar, Dimpo, and others, arrived at the resort brandishing pistols. They forcefully escorted Mangla out of the premises without making any payment and threatened the resort’s staff. When security personnel attempted to intervene, the armed men warned them that additional reinforcements outside were prepared to use lethal force.

The Ranipool Police have registered a case under Sections 25(1)(a) and 27 of the Arms Act, 1959, along with applicable sections of the BNSS, 2023. Investigators are actively collecting statements, documents, and digital evidence to further the investigation.
