Tripura CM Manik Saha Highlights Farmers’ Role in National Development During PM-Kisan Scheme Launch
Northeast Desk, 6th October: In a virtual event marking the release of the 18th installment of the PM-Kisan scheme, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha underscored the critical contribution of farmers to national development. The state is set to receive approximately Rs 47.68 crore, directly benefiting around 2.59 lakh farmers across Tripura.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Saha stated, “On behalf of Tripura, I want to thank Prime Minister Modi, as around Rs 47.68 crore will be received by farmers in this state.” He highlighted that the state has received a total of Rs 737.49 crore from the scheme to date, with this latest installment adding to the support.
During the event, Saha announced several state-level initiatives aimed at enhancing agricultural growth:
- Unified Farmers Database: This initiative will streamline record-keeping and enable real-time crop surveys, improving data accuracy and accessibility for farmers.
- Centres of Excellence: The establishment of two centres will focus on the scientific cultivation of fruits, vegetables, and flowers, providing farmers with advanced techniques and resources.
- Mukhya Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana: This insurance scheme, which has already benefitted 3.81 lakh farmers, aims to provide financial security against crop losses.
Saha praised the transformative impact of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership since 2014, particularly in enhancing agricultural support and economic growth. “Our country is largely agricultural, and if we fail to develop our farmers, the progress of the country will not be possible,” he emphasized.
The Chief Minister also lauded the efficiency of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, stating, “After just one push of a button by PM Modi, the money is directly transferred to everyone’s account through DBT. This was unimaginable before. Now, there are no middlemen involved.”
Furthermore, Saha noted that under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, approximately 13.89 lakh farmers in Tripura are now covered, reinforcing the government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural community.
