Arunachal CM Pema Khandu Seeks Skill Development Partnership with Australia

Northeast Desk, 7th October: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has called for greater collaboration with Australia to boost the state’s skill development initiatives, particularly in critical sectors like construction, infrastructure, and hydropower. In a meeting held on Sunday with Australian High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, Khandu emphasized the need for skilled trainers to enhance the state’s workforce and long-term development.

Highlighting Arunachal’s extensive infrastructure projects, Khandu pointed to hydropower as a crucial area requiring specialized human resources. He stressed the importance of training local youth with global-level skills, enabling them to participate in the state’s development effectively.

Philip Green expressed Australia’s willingness to cooperate, praising Arunachal Pradesh for its peaceful environment and rich cultural diversity. He affirmed Australia’s commitment to facilitating partnerships that would help promote skill development in the state.

The meeting, which included Australian Consul General Hugh Boylan and Vice-Consul Harriet White, ended on a positive note, with optimism about future cooperation aimed at preparing Arunachal Pradesh’s youth for global competitiveness.
