Guwahati: Alleged drunk driver hospitalized after crashing into divider in Six Mile Flyover

Guwahati, 9th October: In an alleged case of drunk driving, a speeding vehicle crashed into a roadside divider in Assam’s Guwahati, leaving the driver critically injured.

The accident took place near the Six Mile flyover.

Locals present at the spot claimed that the driver of the i20 car (Registration: AS 01 FG 6990) was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

The driver, whose identity remains unknown, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.

This incident comes just days after another accident involving a Mahindra XUV (Registration: AS01EH4665), which collided with a scooty (AS01 DF 8230) and a Tata Yodha vehicle (AS01 MC 9807) during preparations for the upcoming Durga Puja.

Several bottles of alcohol were discovered in the XUV, further rising concerns about reckless driving under the influence.

The impact left the scooty rider and the occupants of the XUV severely injured.

All were rushed to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for treatment, while the workers installing lights for the festival narrowly escaped injury.

Despite the police’s ongoing efforts to curb drunk driving through strict enforcement, these incidents highlight the persistent disregard for the law by some reckless drivers.
