Assam’s Smart Move: Guwahati to Get 11,000 Energy-Efficient LED Lights

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will inaugurate the first phase of the Smart Street Lighting Project with Centralized Control and Monitoring Systems (CCMS) in Guwahati today.

The project, aimed at providing a safer, smarter, and more sustainable street lighting system, will see the installation of over 11,000 energy-efficient LED street lights.

The inauguration ceremony will take place at Nandi Mikir Primary School, Chachal, Guwahati, in the presence of Ashok Singhal, Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, and Mrigen Sarania, Mayor of Guwahati Municipal Corporation.

The project, initiated at a total cost of Rs 83.96 crore, is expected to enhance the city’s safety and aesthetics while reducing energy consumption.

The CCMS will enable real-time monitoring and control of the street lights, ensuring efficient operation and maintenance.

Key features of the Smart Street Lighting Project include:

Energy Efficiency: The LED street lights will consume significantly less energy compared to traditional lighting, resulting in reduced electricity bills.

Centralized Control: The CCMS will allow for remote monitoring and control of the street lights, enabling efficient management and maintenance.

Dimming Functionality: The lights can be dimmed automatically after midnight to save energy and reduce light pollution.

Web-Based Interface: The CCMS will provide a user-friendly web-based interface for monitoring and controlling the street lights.

With the implementation of this project, Guwahati is set to become a more illuminated and safer city, enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
