Tripura: Government Railway Police Seize 100 Live Rounds from Deoghar Express, Two Detained
Dharmanagar: The Government Railway Police (GRP) detained two individuals on Wednesday morning after seizing 100 live rounds of .22 caliber bullets from the Deoghar Express.
The incident took place at Dharmanagar Railway Station in the North District while the train was en route to Agartala Railway Station.
Officer-in-Charge of GRP at Dharmanagar, Uttam Kumar Kalai, reported that a surprise inspection was conducted as the Deoghar Express approached the station. “During the inspection, we observed two individuals behaving suspiciously, leading to their detention. Upon searching their belongings, we discovered 100 live rounds of ammunition,” Kalai stated.
The detained suspects have been identified as Dipankar Sen and his maternal nephew Prasenjit Das, both residents of Madhupur in Sepahijala District.
According to the police, the duo had allegedly procured the bullets from Dimapur, Nagaland, with plans to sell them to local miscreants.
