Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Mourns the Passing of Ratan Tata, Hails His Legacy

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed deep grief over the demise of industrialist Ratan Tata, calling him a symbol of compassion and an unwavering advocate for India’s growth. In a heartfelt message shared on X, Sarma highlighted the profound impact Tata had on Assam and the nation, describing him as one of the state’s greatest well-wishers.

“Shri Ratan Tata Ji’s legacy is one of compassion, statesmanship, and unshakeable conviction in the India growth story,” Sarma wrote, underscoring the late leader’s commitment to societal progress and enterprise-building. Sarma emphasized Tata’s close connection to Assam, where he was awarded the state’s highest civilian honor, and his transformative role in improving healthcare through the Assam Cancer Care Foundation.

The Chief Minister also pointed to Tata’s pivotal contribution to the establishment of a semiconductor facility in Jagiroad, which has generated numerous employment opportunities for Assam’s youth. “His demise is a personal loss for me,” Sarma added, reflecting on the wisdom he gained from his interactions with Tata, who was known for his simplicity and humility.

Sarma concluded by offering condolences to Tata’s family and the nation, stating that India has lost an inspirational leader. “Om Shanti!” he said in closing, marking the end of his tribute.
