Manipur: Security Forces Recover Cache of Arms and Ammunition in Bishnupur District

Manipur: In a decisive operation to enhance security in the vulnerable regions of Manipur, security forces conducted a thorough search of Gelbung village in Bishnupur District on October 7, 2024.

The operation resulted in the recovery of a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives.

Among the seized items were an AK-47 rifle with a magazine, a 12 Bore Single Barrel Rifle, a 12 Bore pistol, and a 9mm CMG with its magazine.

Authorities also recovered a 5.56mm INSAS LMG magazine, four live rounds of 9mm CMG ammunition, a 12 Bore cartridge, five No 36 hand grenades, and a tear smoke grenade.

In addition to the weaponry, security forces confiscated five detonators, four tube launchers with arming rings, a modified 2.5 kg IED, two bulletproof jackets, three bulletproof plates, two pairs of jungle shoes, and a helmet.

The operations are part of an ongoing effort to secure hill and valley districts and reduce the risk of violence.

Alongside these raids, security forces also monitored essential vehicle movement, ensuring the safe passage of 190 vehicles along NH-37 and 214 vehicles along NH-2.

This coordinated effort underscores the commitment to maintain law and order, especially amid ongoing tensions in the region.
