Manipur Police Arrest Key Member of KCP Faction in Extortion Crackdown
Imphal: In a major breakthrough against extortion activities, Manipur Police arrested an active member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) faction, Lamyanba Khuman, on Friday, October 11.
The accused, identified as Leiphrakpam Jeneyson Singh (42), also known as Punil, was apprehended from MG Avenue in the Imphal West district.
Singh, a resident of Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak, has been implicated in multiple extortion schemes targeting local businesses across Imphal, causing significant distress among shop owners.
His arrest follows a sustained effort by law enforcement to curb criminal activities linked to insurgent groups in the area.
Authorities are now deepening their investigation to uncover further connections within the KCP’s financial network and its extortion operations across Imphal and surrounding regions.
