Meghalaya: Traffic Advisory Issued in Shillong Ahead of Vice President Dhankar’s Visit on October 16-17

Shillong: In anticipation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar’s visit to Meghalaya scheduled for October 16 and 17, the Shillong Traffic Police (STP) has released a comprehensive traffic advisory.

The directive aims to ensure the smooth movement of the Vice President’s convoy and minimize inconvenience to the public.

To facilitate secure travel arrangements, authorities have urged residents to avoid traveling around Shillong unless absolutely necessary or in cases of emergencies.

The STP has also imposed restrictions on various heavy and medium motor vehicles, including essential goods carriers, gas cylinder vehicles, oil tankers, FCI trucks, and local mini trucks. These vehicles will not be allowed to ply towards Shillong and Sohra on the specified dates until Vice President Dhankar concludes his visit.

Detailed Traffic Arrangements for October 16:

1. Y.W.C.A. Junction to Gurudwara Junction: Traffic will be diverted at Raj Bhawan towards AIR Junction and beyond from 5:00 PM until the end of the program.
2. Gurudwara Junction to Y.W.C.A. Junction: Vehicles will be redirected at AIR Junction towards IGP Point and beyond from 5:00 PM till the completion of the program.
3. Golflink/Pynthorbah/BDW School to Lailad Nongmensong: Traffic will be diverted at Pynthor Bazaar – Behind J. N. Stadium – Wahumkhrah Bridge and beyond starting from 2:30 PM.
4. Ishyrwat Junction to Nongmensong Bazaar: Vehicles will be redirected towards the BSF Mawpat/Umpling Road and beyond beginning at 2:30 PM.
5. Shillong Commerce College to B. K. Bajoria Junction Bridge: Traffic will be diverted at Shillong Commerce College Junction towards Don Bosco Square/Gurudwara and beyond from 2:30 PM.
6. MES Junction, Nongrim Hills to DAD Junction (Demsieniong): Vehicles will be redirected at Nongrim Petrol Pump/MES Junction towards Nongrim Hills/Goralane and beyond from 2:30 PM.
7. B. K. Bajoria to 4th Furlong Junction: Traffic will be diverted at B. K. Bajoria Junction towards Shillong Commerce College and beyond starting from 2:30 PM.

The traffic advisory is intended to ensure the safe and uninterrupted passage of the Vice President while maintaining public safety. The Shillong Traffic Police urges residents to adhere to the guidelines, and anticipates cooperation to make Vice President Dhankar’s visit a smooth and successful one.
