Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar to Visit Assam and Meghalaya for Development Initiatives
Guwahati – Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is set to embark on a two-day visit to Assam and Meghalaya starting Wednesday, October 16, aimed at enhancing ties and promoting development in the northeastern region.
According to an official statement issued on Tuesday, Vice President Dhankhar will serve as the chief guest for the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the Meghalaya Skill and Innovation Hub at Mawdiangdiang in New Shillong.
This initiative is expected to significantly advance skill development and foster innovation in the state.
During his visit, the Vice President will also tour the IT Park and Raj Bhavan in Shillong. Meetings with the Chief Minister and other senior officials are scheduled to discuss various developmental issues and initiatives, focusing on the region’s growth prospects.
In anticipation of Dhankhar’s visit, the Shillong Traffic Police (STP) have issued directives to ensure safe and smooth travel for the dignitary while minimizing inconvenience for the public.
Authorities have advised residents to avoid travel in and around Shillong unless absolutely necessary or in emergencies.
Additionally, the STP announced that all heavy and medium motor vehicles, including those transporting essential goods, gas cylinders, oil tankers, FCI trucks, and local mini trucks, will be prohibited from entering Shillong and Sohra on October 16 and 17 until Dhankhar’s departure.
This visit marks a significant step in the Indian government’s ongoing efforts to bolster development and cooperation in the northeastern states.
