Meghalaya’s Angelia Marwein Shines at Femina Miss India 2024, Secures Spot in Top 7 and Wins Miss Multimedia Title

Shillong: In a dazzling night of beauty, talent, and grace, Meghalaya’s Angelia Marwein made a mark at the Femina Miss India 2024 pageant, clinching the Miss Multimedia title and securing a spot among the top 7 contestants. Held in Mumbai on Wednesday, the prestigious event saw the 24-year-old Political Science graduate from Shillong stand out with her advocacy for women’s rights and her deep connection to her matrilineal Khasi heritage.

Marwein, known for her strong stance on *gender equality, has been a vocal proponent of women’s empowerment. Her academic background includes a master’s dissertation focusing on the *Maitshaphrang Movement, which explores its impact on gender dynamics in the Khasi community. Her participation in the pageant has sparked pride across Meghalaya and the Northeast.

Reflecting on her experience, Marwein took to social media, expressing gratitude:
“My first pageant ever and by God’s grace I was in top 7, won Miss Multimedia and Miss India Northeast. I couldn’t bring the crown home, but a promise to Meghalaya and Northeast. I will come back stronger than ever.”

Tadu Lunia from Arunachal Pradesh also made headlines, winning the Times Beauty with a Purpose title and advancing to the top 15.

The grand crown of Miss India 2024 went to Nikita Porwal from Madhya Pradesh, with Rekha Pandayy from the Union Territories and Ayushi Dholakia from Gujarat securing the first and second runner-up positions, respectively. Porwal, a seasoned actor and former TV anchor, will go on to represent India at the Miss World pageant later this year.

Marking its 60th anniversary, the event was a celebration of India’s pageant legacy, featuring performances by Bollywood celebrities and former Miss India winners. A nationwide talent search was conducted, bringing together 30 state winners who underwent intensive training ahead of the finale.

With India’s storied history in international beauty pageants, including five Miss World crowns, the Miss India Organization also commemorated the occasion by launching a special anthem titled “Rise of Queen,” celebrating the empowerment of women across the country.
