Myanmar National Arrested in Mizoram with Heroin Worth Rs 32.9 Lakh

Aizawl: A Myanmar national was arrested in Champhai district of east Mizoram with heroin valued at *Rs 32.9 lakh, according to a statement by the Assam Rifles on Wednesday.

Following a tip-off about an impending drug shipment, a joint operation by the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police established a check post in Zokhawthar village, near the Myanmar border, on Tuesday.

During the operation, the team seized 47 grams of heroin from the possession of Vanneihce, a 20-year-old resident of Kaley, Myanmar. The accused, along with the confiscated drugs, was handed over to local police for further legal action.

The Assam Rifles highlighted that the involvement of foreign nationals in drug smuggling points to the growing threat of trafficking along the India-Myanmar border, calling for heightened vigilance.
