Arunachal: Itanagar Deputy Commissioner Withdraws Permission for ANSU Electoral Enrollment Amid Internal Disputes

Itanagar: The Deputy Commissioner of Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, has revoked the permission for the All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) electoral enrollment process, which was initially scheduled for October 17 at Siddhartha Hall.

The order, issued on October 16, halts the process until further notice, superseding the earlier directive that had approved the enrollment.

The electoral process, organized by Lingdom Kioda (Chairman) and Lokam Andrew Tajo (Vice Chairman) of the Electoral Enrollment Committee, was intended to register delegates from schools, Block Students’ Unions (BSUs), District Students’ Unions (DSUs), and Nyishi elected leaders of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) for the upcoming XVIth General Conference-cum-Election in 2024.

Simultaneously, the Nyishi Elite Society (NES), the leading body of the Nyishi community, has stepped in to resolve internal tensions within ANSU.

The NES President has tasked the Former ANSU Executive Members Forum with overseeing the upcoming elections, ensuring a peaceful, fair, and transparent process. This intervention follows unrest between factions within the student union.

The NES’s involvement aims to restore order and unity within ANSU, with the forum given full authority to supervise the electoral process and address ongoing issues.
