Meghalaya Government Announces Scheme for Implementation of MRSSA
Shillong: The Meghalaya government has introduced a new scheme to facilitate the effective implementation of the Meghalaya Residents Safety & Security Act (MRSSA). The decision was finalized during a state Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.
The scheme aims to operationalize the MRSSA across the state, ensuring safety and security for residents. To support the initiative, the scheme will allocate budgetary provisions for Deputy Commissioners (DCs), who will monitor its implementation and assess further developments.
The government plans to release a revolving fund of a minimum of ₹2 lakh per district. However, funding will be increased for districts with additional administrative structures, such as the Dorbar Shnong.
Cabinet Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh stated that the scheme would enable district authorities to access relevant funds for the proper implementation of MRSSA. She emphasized that this is the first time such a scheme is being implemented in Meghalaya, reflecting the government’s commitment to residents’ safety and security.
The new scheme marks a significant step towards enhancing security measures and ensuring the well-being of the citizens across the state.
