Assam: 51-Year-Old Police Constable Takes Own Life with Service Weapon in Silchar
Silchar – In a tragic incident, 51-year-old police constable Ishwar Singha reportedly took his own life with his service weapon in Silchar on Saturday.
Singha, a resident of Katakuama village in Cachar district, was found dead in his restroom at the Circuit House, where he was stationed.
The incident occurred shortly after he had completed his sentry duty, according to Cachar Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta.
Senior officers were quickly alerted to the situation, and a team was dispatched to the scene. Singha was immediately rushed to Silchar Medical College & Hospital, but despite efforts, doctors were unable to save him.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to his death. The firearm and spent cartridge were secured as evidence, and his restroom has been sealed off for further examination.
SP Mahatta stated that all necessary legal procedures are being followed, and Singha’s family has been informed and is on their way to Silchar.
The investigation aims to shed light on the factors surrounding the constable’s death.
