Tripura: Security Agencies Detain Five Foreign Nationals at Agartala Railway Station

Agartala – In a significant operation, security agencies at Agartala Railway Station detained three Rohingya nationals and two Bangladeshi nationals in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to Tapas Das, Officer-in-Charge of the Government Railway Police (GRP), the authorities received intelligence late last night suggesting that individuals from these communities would arrive at the station attempting to leave the state. “Based on the tip-off, personnel from the GRP, Railway Protection Force (RPF), and Border Security Force (BSF), dressed in civilian clothes, waited at the station. When the individuals arrived, we detained five of them,” Das stated.

Initially, the detained individuals claimed to be Indian nationals; however, further interrogation revealed that three were Rohingya and two were Bangladeshi nationals who had entered the state illegally.

Das noted that the Rohingya nationals intended to travel to Hyderabad, while the Bangladeshi nationals were planning to head to Mumbai. During the operation, security personnel seized Bangladeshi currency, various documents, and several mobile phones from the detained individuals.

The authorities plan to present the detained nationals in court to seek police remand for further interrogation as investigations into their illegal entry and intended travel plans continue.
