
Union Minister Giriraj Singh to Inaugurate Permanent NIFT Campus in Meghalaya on October 25
Shillong: Union Minister Giriraj Singh is set to inaugurate the permanent campus of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) at Umsawli, Meghalaya, on October 25.
The new campus marks a significant development for NIFT, advancing the institute’s presence in the northeastern region.
The event will witness the participation of Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita.
The inauguration reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure in the region, providing students with state-of-the-art facilities for their fashion and design education.
Following the inauguration, Giriraj Singh will review the Aspirational District Programme in Ri Bhoi, focusing on the progress and implementation of central government schemes in the area. The Minister is also scheduled to meet with local officials to assess ongoing developmental initiatives.
As part of his visit, Singh will stop at the Eri Silk Village in Umden, where he will interact with local weavers, artisans, and stakeholders engaged in the tourism sector.
Additionally, he will visit important locations like the Umkon-1 Anganwadi Centre and Marngar Primary Health Centre to meet beneficiaries and evaluate the impact of various government programs.
This visit underscores the government’s broader commitment to boosting infrastructure, connectivity, healthcare, and entrepreneurship in line with its vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Viksit Purvottar’.
