Three Suspected Militants Apprehended, Weapons Cache Seized in Manipur Border Operations

Manipur— Security forces made a substantial breakthrough in anti-insurgency operations along the Indo-Myanmar border, apprehending three suspected militants and seizing a large weapons cache in multiple raids across Manipur.

Two individuals, identified as Ningombam Priyo Singh and Saikhom Devjit Singh, both aged 21 and suspected members of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), were arrested on October 26 in Tengnoupal District.

Their arrests follow the October 25 detention of Robert Lalhahdam, a suspected cadre of the PREPAK (PRO) militant group, who was captured in Yanghoubung village.

Security forces confiscated an INSAS Excalibur Rifle from Lalhahdam’s possession, underscoring the threat posed by armed groups operating along the sensitive border area.

In a related search operation in the Churachandpur District, security personnel discovered a concealed weapons cache in the dense forests near Teijang village, at the foothills of the Thangjing ridge.

The cache contained an assortment of high-powered arms and explosive materials, including three rifles—one of which was an improvised sniper rifle equipped with a telescopic sight—a homemade mortar with a stand, 30 rounds of live ammunition, and various explosive components such as detonators, safety fuses, and tear smoke grenades.

Authorities have confirmed that the seized weapons and explosives would undergo further analysis to trace their origins and potential connections to militant operations in the region.

With the border areas facing an uptick in insurgent activities, these coordinated arrests and seizures highlight ongoing efforts to strengthen security and dismantle militant networks in Manipur.
