Anirudh’s Unbeaten Century Puts Meghalaya at 274/8 on Day 1 Against Maharashtra
Shillong: Meghalaya made an impressive start in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group A opener against Maharashtra, closing the first day at 274/8.
After being sent in to bat, Meghalaya showed resilience on the pitch with substantial contributions from local players and an outstanding unbeaten century from guest professional Anirudh B.
Despite an early struggle, openers Bamanbha Shangpliang (33) and Ajay Duhan (34) provided initial stability, with Duhan pairing with Anirudh for a crucial third-wicket stand of 110 runs.
Anirudh, displaying commanding form, racked up 140 not out, punctuated by 18 fours and two sixes, putting Maharashtra’s bowlers on the back foot for much of the day.
Captain Kishan Lyngdoh added a steady 22 runs, helping push Meghalaya closer to the 300-run mark. Though Maharashtra managed to take late wickets, slowing Meghalaya’s progress, Anirudh’s steady presence at the crease keeps Meghalaya poised to reach or surpass 300 when play resumes on Day 2.
