Assam Government Honors Archer Jayanta Talukdar with DSP Position

Guwahati: In a notable move, the Assam government has approved the appointment of renowned archer Jayanta Talukdar as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).

This decision was made during a cabinet meeting, recognizing Talukdar’s impressive achievements in the sports arena.

As per the Integrated Sports Policy of Assam, 2017-2018, Talukdar’s position falls under the Home & Political Department, Government of Assam.

Talukdar’s accolades include bronze medals at the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games, earning him widespread recognition.

This appointment is part of the state’s efforts to reward its sports achievers with government jobs, acknowledging their contributions to the nation.

In another significant development, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a three percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state employees, bringing the total to 53 percent of their basic salary.

Effective from July 2024, this hike will be disbursed in monthly installments between December and March, with employees receiving 25 percent of their arrears each month.

This dual announcement highlights the Assam government’s commitment to recognizing sporting excellence and ensuring the well-being of its employees.
