Nagaon, Assam — In a heartbreaking incident underscoring the escalating human-elephant conflict in Assam, a 10-year-old boy tragically lost his life to a wild elephant in Nagaon district on Monday morning.

The young victim, identified as Azizul Haque, was attacked while on his way to the fields in Longjap Padumoni, an area under the jurisdiction of the Kampur Forest Office.

Azizul’s sudden encounter with the elephant resulted in a fatal blow, leaving the local community in shock and mourning.

The incident highlights the increasing frequency and severity of elephant encounters in inhabited areas across Assam, as wild elephants stray into human settlements, often in search of food, leading to devastating outcomes.
