Manipur State Film Development Society Selects Delegates for 55th International Film Festival of India

Imphal, Manipur – The Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) has officially selected four representatives to attend the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), scheduled to take place in Goa from November 20 to 28, 2024. With financial backing from the MSFDS, these delegates will have the opportunity to engage with one of Asia’s most prestigious film festivals, showcasing the vibrant film and media scene in Manipur.

This year’s delegates include Shanti Raj, a renowned film technician; Thotreisho Keishing, a talented film actor and music director; Dr. A. Bishwajit Sharma, a prominent journalist; and the acclaimed filmmaker Ajit Yumnam. Dr. Sharma, who is the only journalist chosen for this event, will have a distinctive role, tasked with covering IFFI and the accompanying film bazaar. He plans to provide insights and reports on industry developments and trends for the audience in Manipur.

The funding for the selected delegates amounts to Rs. 1,10,000, which is drawn from the MSFDS’s grant-in-aid program aimed at promoting talent in Manipur’s film and media sectors. This initiative reflects the organization’s commitment to nurturing local filmmakers, artists, and journalists, thereby enhancing their professional growth and exposure within the global film landscape.

IFFI, recognized as Asia’s largest film festival, is organized by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. The festival attracts filmmakers, artists, and film enthusiasts from around the world, providing a platform for cultural exchange and showcasing cinematic excellence. The participation of Manipur’s delegates underscores the state’s rich cultural heritage and its emerging role in the film industry.
