Manipur Police Strengthens Security After Arrest of Alleged KCP Member in Assault Case
Imphal – In a significant move to reinforce law and order in Manipur, state police apprehended Senjam Suraj Meitei, a 25-year-old suspected member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), in connection with an October 31 assault in Lamsang.
The early morning attack left two individuals from Senapati injured, sparking intensified investigations into potential links with insurgent activities.
Following the arrest, Manipur Police have registered a case and are actively questioning Meitei to uncover further details related to the KCP’s operations.
In response to the incident, heightened security measures are underway across Manipur’s vulnerable regions, with law enforcement and security forces initiating extensive area domination and search operations.
The combined effort spans both hill and valley districts, targeting areas identified as prone to insurgent influence. This expanded vigilance reflects the authorities’ commitment to stabilizing the region and curbing the spread of insurgency.
To maintain a steady flow of essential goods and secure trade routes, stringent security protocols are now enforced along National Highways 37 and 2. With reinforced security, over 400 vehicles carrying critical supplies have been successfully escorted along these highways in recent days.
The organized convoys and additional coverage along sensitive stretches aim to ensure the uninterrupted movement of goods, particularly during this period of heightened alert.
In a further effort to fortify security, the government has established 99 checkpoints across various districts, strategically positioned in both hill and valley regions.
Each checkpoint is closely monitored, with police personnel conducting rigorous inspections. To date, seven individuals have been detained for various infractions, underscoring the government’s proactive stance on maintaining law and order.
These collective actions signal Manipur’s dedication to sustaining peace, promoting safe transit routes, and addressing insurgent activities through concerted efforts by police and security forces across the state.
