Assam: Fatal Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of Youth in Sonai Town Amid Alleged Attempted Elopement
Cachar: In a tragic incident, one youth lost his life in a road accident in Cachar district of Assam last night.
The accident occurred in the Amjurghat area of Sonai town.
The deceased has been identified as Sanjit Ravidas who was a resident of Sonai Kaptanpur.
As per reports, the incident took place when Sanjit along with his girlfriend and a friend was attempting to flee on a high-speed motorcycle, ultimately losing control and crashing into a bridge railing near Gastala.
Eyewitnesses reported that the forceful collision threw all three occupants off the motorcycle.
Sanji was killed on impact while his girlfriend and friend sustained severe injuries.
Upon receiving information, police and emergency responders immediately arrived at the accident spot, providing assistance to the injured and securing Sanjit’s body, which was subsequently transported to Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) for a post-mortem examination.
Local sources revealed that Sanjit had previously attempted to elope with the minor girl from Amjurghat just a week prior. Cachar Police had intervened, rescuing the teenager and safely returning her to her family. Last night’s tragic incident unfolded as Sanjit allegedly made a second attempt to flee with her, accompanied by his friend.
This incident has cast a spotlight on youth safety and community vigilance, with authorities urging caution in similar situations.
Police are continuing their investigation to gather more details surrounding the events leading up to the accident.
