Death Threat Against UP CM Yogi Adityanath Prompts Heightened Security Measures in Mumbai
Mumbai — A death threat targeting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has triggered a major security response, with Mumbai Police intensifying protection protocols around the high-profile leader.
The threat, communicated via a call to the Mumbai Police Traffic Control Cell, warned of grave consequences if Adityanath did not resign within ten days. Authorities quickly mobilized, detaining a woman in connection with the threat.
Police sources reveal that the anonymous caller threatened Adityanath with a fate similar to that of the late Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique, who was assassinated in Mumbai last month. Siddique’s murder on October 12—outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office during Dussehra celebrations—has heightened security concerns for public figures, especially in the lead-up to Maharashtra’s assembly elections, where Adityanath is expected to campaign.
Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the threat, working to trace the call’s origin and identify other possible individuals linked to the alarming message. Given recent incidents, including death threats and extortion demands directed at public personalities in Mumbai, authorities are on high alert.
This incident follows a series of threats in the city: last week, Azam Mohammed Mustafa was arrested for extortion threats made to Bollywood star Salman Khan, while another individual, Mohammad Tayyab from Noida, was apprehended for issuing threats against both Khan and Zeeshan Siddique.
The latest threat has underscored the urgency of bolstering security around public figures and addressing the rising wave of intimidations in Mumbai. As the police investigation continues, authorities emphasize that strict measures are being enforced to safeguard all those at risk.
