Joint Operation Foils Infiltration Attempt in Meghalaya, Seven Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested

South West Garo Hills, Meghalaya – In a coordinated effort, the Meghalaya police and the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt on November 4, apprehending seven Bangladeshi nationals in the South West Garo Hills district.

The operation took place at Baldamgiri Tinali (Tri-Junction), where the individuals were attempting to illegally cross the international border.

Acting on credible intelligence regarding potential illegal crossings, security personnel mobilized swiftly to intercept the group. This successful operation underscores the ongoing commitment of local authorities to secure the region and combat illegal immigration.

In a separate operation earlier, the Meghalaya police and BSF had also apprehended two Bangladeshi nationals attempting to enter Indian territory. Following specific intelligence regarding illicit crossings in the East Khasi Hills district, the 4th Battalion BSF alerted the Pynursla Police Station.

During this earlier operation, BSF troops, alongside local police, intercepted a Wagon R vehicle (Registration No. ML-05 AC 1946) on NH 40 near Pynursla, leading to the arrest of the two individuals.

These operations highlight the continuous efforts of Meghalaya’s security forces to maintain law and order along the sensitive border region and deter illegal activities.
