Assam: Priest Found Dead in Nagaon Temple
Nagaon, Assam – In a tragic incident, a priest operating the Bamuni Sarbajanin Durga Mandir in Barhampur, Nagaon, was discovered dead on the temple premises.
The deceased, identified as Damodar Guruji, was found hanging from the ceiling on Monday morning, sparking concern and speculation among the local community.
Residents of the Barhampur area, where the temple is located, immediately alerted the police upon discovering the body.
A police team quickly arrived at the scene and, after preliminary investigations, suggested that the incident may be a case of suicide. However, authorities have opened an investigation to explore all possible angles surrounding the circumstances of his death.
Damodar Guruji was a long-time priest at the temple and hailed from Karbi Anglong district in Assam. The incident has left the local community in shock, prompting discussions about mental health and the pressures faced by individuals in religious vocations.
