Medhavi Skills University Launches Pharmacy and Nursing Colleges to Boost Skill-Based Education in Sikkim

Sikkim: Principal Secretary to Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, S.D. Dhakal, on November 4 inaugurated two new colleges dedicated to pharmacy and nursing under Medhavi Skills University (MSU).

The launch, themed “Empowering Dreams and Building Futures for Viksit Bharat,” aims to expand skill-based education and create new employment pathways for Sikkim’s youth.

The event, attended by leaders across industry, government, and technology sectors, highlighted the impact of public-private partnerships in fostering local employment. As part of its mission to align with industry needs, MSU signed MoUs with organizations including LOGICKNOTS, Transorze Information Solutions Pvt Ltd, Trika Energy Research Pvt Ltd, and Club Mahindra Resort – Le Vintuna. These partnerships focus on preparing students with relevant skills for high-demand industries, including the rapidly growing semiconductor sector.

Addressing the gathering, Dhakal emphasized the importance of practical, skill-oriented education in fulfilling India’s development vision for 2047. He highlighted MSU’s role in addressing skill gaps, particularly for Sikkim’s youth, including those who have not completed formal education, and noted the necessity of expanding nursing and pharmacy institutions to strengthen the region’s healthcare system.

Kuldip Sarma, Co-Founder and Pro-Chancellor of MSU, expressed the university’s commitment to transforming education through a skill-driven approach. “Our new facilities and collaborations aim to equip students with the industry-relevant competencies needed for the real-world success of our local youth globally,” Sarma stated, adding that MSU’s initiatives align closely with the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047.”

The launch of these colleges reflects Sikkim’s investment in workforce development, signaling a step toward bridging talent gaps and driving local and national growth.
