Assam: Cachar District Commissioner Leads High-Level Meeting on Infrastructure Expansion and Chhat Puja Preparations
Silchar— In a proactive effort to enhance infrastructure and promote cultural harmony, Cachar District Commissioner Mridul Yadav convened a high-level meeting on November 4. The gathering focused on expediting land record verification and compensation processes for major infrastructure projects, alongside preparations for the upcoming Chhat Puja festivities.
DC Yadav emphasized the critical need for accurate and digitized land records to facilitate seamless land acquisition under the Bharatmala Pariyojana, which aims to improve road connectivity across the region. He stressed the importance of timely compensation for landowners, particularly regarding the Badarpur and Panchgram Bypass projects, which are expected to significantly boost local connectivity and economic development.
“Ensuring the timely disbursement of compensation is not only a commitment to infrastructure development but also an assurance of fairness to the local communities impacted by these expansions,” Yadav stated, highlighting the administration’s dedication to transparency and efficiency.
The meeting saw the participation of key officials, including Dr. Khaleda Sultana Ahmed, Additional District Commissioner for Land Acquisition, along with various Circle and Branch Officers. They discussed strategies to navigate potential administrative hurdles, reinforcing Cachar’s commitment to effective project implementation.
In addition to infrastructure matters, DC Yadav outlined comprehensive arrangements for Chhat Puja, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable celebration for the community. Important directives included deploying the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and enhancing lighting facilities at event sites through the Silchar Municipal Board for improved visibility.
Furthermore, Yadav coordinated with the Water Resources Department to mitigate any water-related challenges during the festival. A robust police presence was also arranged to ensure public safety, with the administration working closely with the Chhat Puja Committee and local volunteers for effective crowd management.
Attendees at the meeting included Cachar’s Superintendent of Police Numal Mahato, Additional District Commissioners Yubaraj Borthakur and Antara Sen, and other key officials, all of whom are collaborating to ensure a peaceful and organized celebration of Chhat Puja, reinforcing community spirit and harmony in the district.
