Guwahati Police Seize Rs 70 Lakh in Fake Currency at ISBT, Suspected Smuggling Network Under Investigation

Guwahati – In a major crackdown, Guwahati Police, in collaboration with the Special Operations Group (SOG), seized around Rs 70 lakh in counterfeit currency at the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT).

Acting on a tip-off, authorities swiftly apprehended Hafiz Ali from Gogamukh, Dhemaji district, who was allegedly transporting the fake currency from Bandardewa to Guwahati on a night bus.

The police acted on credible intelligence, leading to the raid and capture at ISBT.
Approximately Rs 70 lakh in counterfeit notes were seized, packed discreetly among regular luggage to evade detection.
Initial investigations suggest the involvement of a larger network dedicated to circulating fake currency across various regions.
Authorities are intensifying investigations to uncover additional operatives and connections in the smuggling syndicate.

This operation marks a significant step in Guwahati Police’s efforts to dismantle networks involved in fake currency distribution.
