Manipur Security Forces Seize Large Arms Cache During Search Operations

Imphal: In a major breakthrough, security forces in Manipur have seized a significant consignment of arms and ammunition during ongoing search and area domination exercises in the state.

The heightened security efforts aim to maintain peace and order, particularly in the hill and valley districts, which are considered vulnerable and prone to unrest.

The recent operation in Kakching district’s Laimanai Laimaton Ching area led to the recovery of several weapons and ammunition, including a country-made 9mm pistol with a magazine, two empty carbine magazines, one .36 hand grenade, a detonator, five live rounds of ammunition, three empty cartridges, a 38.8 tear gas gun, eight tear smoke shells, a Baofeng handset with charger, and various other items such as a helmet and magazine pouch.

As part of ongoing security measures, the forces have been ensuring the safe movement of essential goods. A convoy was escorted along National Highway 2, which serves as a critical transportation route. In addition, security forces have implemented strict surveillance at key vulnerable locations, setting up 110 Nakas/Checkpoints across different districts to maintain tight control over the region.

Despite the extensive security efforts, no individuals were detained during this operation for violations related to the arms recovery. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure the safety of residents and the smooth flow of goods throughout the state.
