Pakistan: Explosion Near Quetta Railway Station Claims Four Lives, Injures 20

International: A powerful explosion near the Quetta railway station on Saturday resulted in at least four fatalities and left 20 others injured, according to reports from Geo News.

The blast occurred in the area near the station’s booking office, just moments before an incoming train was due to arrive, raising fears of a higher casualty toll due to the usual crowd at the time.

The explosion took place shortly before the Jaffer Express, scheduled for a 9 a.m. departure to Peshawar, was expected at the platform. However, railway officials confirmed that the train had not yet arrived when the blast occurred, potentially averting a greater loss of life.

Emergency services, including police and rescue teams, responded promptly to the scene. Quetta’s Civil Hospital declared an emergency and called in additional medical personnel to manage the surge of injured individuals.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the explosion, and more details are awaited as the situation develops.
