Violence Erupts in Manipur’s Imphal West as Suspected Kuki Militants Launch Attack

Imphal West district in Manipur witnessed a surge of violence on November 11, as suspected Kuki militants launched an armed assault on the outskirts of Kangchup and Koutruk, injuring two people and inciting widespread fear among residents. The militants, reportedly wielding heavy weaponry, fired indiscriminately towards residential areas on the Kangpokpi-Imphal West boundary, sparking chaos in the region.

The violence intensified when assailants set numerous homes and shops ablaze in Kangchup Chingkhong, a community near the Kangpokpi-Imphal West border. The attack forced many residents to flee, seeking refuge in safer areas amid concerns of further escalation. Eyewitnesses described the incident as highly distressing, with flames engulfing properties and gunfire reverberating across the area.
