Security Forces Recover Arms Cache in Manipur, Tighten Surveillance on Vital Routes

Imphal: In a series of meticulously coordinated operations across Manipur’s hill and valley districts, security forces have unearthed a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives, strengthening efforts to secure vulnerable areas. The operations, conducted in the fringe regions of the Dampi Reserve Forest in Churachandpur district, underscore ongoing measures to curb unrest and ensure public safety.

The seizures included a range of weaponry and explosives, highlighting the scale of illicit arms circulation in the region. Among the items recovered were a .303 rifle, a .22 rifle, two country-made pistols, two Pumpis, and several rounds of various calibers, including .303, 9 mm, and 7.62 mm. Explosives such as ten Grade 2 charges, twenty detonators, a mortar bomb, and grenades were also found, alongside tear gas and smoke grenades.

Security forces have intensified their presence in critical zones to prevent the misuse of such materials. “These operations are part of ongoing area domination efforts to neutralize threats and maintain peace,” stated a senior official involved in the operation.

Beyond arms recovery, security personnel are focused on ensuring the uninterrupted movement of essential supplies across the state. Sixteen vehicles carrying essential goods successfully traversed National Highway 2 (NH-2), a key supply route, under the protection of enhanced security measures. Forces remain stationed at sensitive points along the highway to safeguard these convoys.

To further tighten security, 106 checkpoints have been established across various districts in both hill and valley areas, ensuring continuous monitoring and preventing potential security breaches. These coordinated measures reflect a comprehensive approach to stabilizing the region amid ongoing tensions.
