Arunachal CM Pema Khandu Pays Tribute to Shaurya Chakra Awardee Major Himanshu Panwar on 12th Anniversary of Lohit Operation

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu honored the memory of Major Himanshu Panwar of the 26 Maratha Light Infantry on November 16, commemorating his heroism during a daring operation in Lohit district on this day in 2011.

In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), Khandu lauded Major Panwar’s bravery, which saved numerous civilian lives and neutralized two hardcore terrorists.

“I bow in gratitude and salute your valour in saving the lives of our people!” wrote the Chief Minister, acknowledging the major’s selfless service.

The operation, conducted on November 16, 2011, saw Major Panwar lead a search mission in a remote Lohit village. When confronted with a life-threatening scenario, he demonstrated exceptional courage and single-handedly neutralized two armed terrorists, ensuring the safety of innocent civilians caught in the conflict. His decisive actions and extraordinary presence of mind not only thwarted the threat but also restored peace to the area.

In recognition of his gallantry, Major Panwar was awarded the Shaurya Chakra, one of India’s highest peacetime military honors, underscoring his sacrifice and dedication to the nation.

The tribute serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by India’s armed forces in safeguarding the nation and its people. Major Panwar’s legacy continues to inspire countless individuals across the country.
