Assam: Police in Dhubri Foil Cattle Smuggling Attempt, Recover Four Cattle Heads

Guwahati: In a late-night operation, Dhubri police intercepted a suspected cattle-smuggling vehicle, recovering four cattle heads in the process. The operation, which unfolded in a dramatic high-speed chase, began in the Jhagrarpar area and ended in the Bhatigaon region.

Police sources confirmed that the operation was launched based on credible intelligence. Officers flagged down a Tata Tiago with registration number AS-03AJ-8234 in Jhagrarpar. However, the driver ignored their instructions and fled the scene, prompting a pursuit that continued for several kilometers.

The chase culminated in Bhatigaon, where the suspected smugglers abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed four cattle heads, believed to be part of an illegal transport operation.

The recovered animals were safely transferred to the local pound, and authorities have launched an investigation to identify those involved and determine the origin and intended destination of the cattle.
